Peter Jay
BACK
Peter Jay studied painting and drawing, first at Beckenham, and then at St.Martin's School of Art. After a short spell in advertising and a rather longer period in textiles, he moved to Sussex to paint full time and explored and painted the wilder areas of the surrounding countryside, with a particular interest in the wild flowers. The local beach scenes with endless sands and rock pools have also been a source of inspiration.
In 2007 he moved to Somerset and is now inspired by the countryside surrounding his new home and the 'jurassic' coastline. He has recently completed a book on 'how to paint in acrylics' which shows, step by step, the techniques that he uses in his paintings.
He exhibits mainly in the South East and has been accepted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, on several occasions.
