David trained at Johannesburg Art College having moved to South Africa with his family at the age of 12.
Birds have always been a great passion, nurtured from an early age by his grandparents who lived in North Yorkshire.
His grandfather was a particularly strong influence and, being an amateur artist himself, he encouraged David to observe and draw birds on their regular bird watching trips together.
Following a career of over 30 years as an Art Director in Johannesburg and London, David now runs his own advertising and design business based in East Sussex, where he has lived for over 20 years.
He has recently returned to painting realistic watercolour studies of birds. Over the years his paintings have sold privately in South Africa, USA, Europe and the UK.
